Peter Mackey started Mackey Law Group, P.A., along with his wife Catherine Mackey, in 1990. Prior to that, Peter worked for large law firms practicing litigation. Upon graduation from law School, he first joined the Hancock & Estabrook law firm in Syracuse, New York. Peter then moved to Florida and joined Holland & Knight in its Bradenton office. In early 1990 Peter's mentor, Warren Goodrich, retired which resulted in Holland & Knight winding-down its Bradenton office; so, instead of relocating to another office, Peter joined his wife who had already started practicing on her own in town.

Peter was born in 1958 in Syracuse, New York. His family then moved to Setauket, New York on the North Shore of Long Island, which is where Peter spent most of his youth. He attended Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania and graduated cum laude from Stony Brook University on Long Island, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He then spent two fun years as the "yard manager" for a large marina/boat dealership in Port Jefferson, New York until he attended Boston College Law School.

While he considers himself to be a commercial litigator, Peter is definitely not your typical "office lawyer/motion practitioner". He has successfully been the lead attorney in conducting bench and jury trials to conclusion in both Federal and State court. His clients are predominantly contractors, subcontractors, and developers; however, the firm also represents individuals, financial institutions, and any other entities/persons that need both litigation avoidance advice as well as trial representation. The scope of Peter's litigation experience ranges from standard collections to mechanic's lien prosecution, contact disputes, commercial foreclosures, adversary proceedings within the bankruptcy courts, and all aspects of a general commercial litigation practice.

Peter and Cathie live in Bradenton and have four children: Cayla who is a student at Vanderbilt University and Matt, Alexandra, and Kendall who are 11 year old triplets. When he is not working, Peter likes to fish, hunt, and help-out coaching youth baseball. In the summer you can find the Mackey's either at the baseball/softball fields or out on the water off of the West Coast of Florida or in the Keys. In the winter, the Mackey's are busy doing kid stuff.
